EDE Partnerships

Administrative Partnerships

Since 1996, EDE has shared an Executive Director, administrative leadership, development, marketing, and financial services with Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings and the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival.

Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings
Founded in 1982, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings (“DCWS”) specializes in the performance of works utilizing between 6 and 20 players. The ensemble is comprised of musicians from the Detroit Symphony and Michigan Opera Theatre orchestras.
Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival
Founded in 1993 with pianist James Tocco at its artistic helm, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival (“GLCMF”) brings in world-renowned artists, presenting more than 20 concerts during a two-week period each June. The GLCMF is a secular event presented by DCWS together with three religious institutions representing Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant faiths. On the 2003 Festival, DCWS and EDE collaborated to perform Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale, with choreography by Bill DeYoung.

Artistic Partnerships

Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center
EDE and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (“BBAC”) began a formal collaboration in the fall of 2004 when the EDE Center began offering a full schedule of dance classes in a fully renovated BBAC studio. The mission of the BBAC is to enhance the community by promoting the appreciation, understanding and practice of the Arts. Founded in 1957, the BBAC provides arts instruction to some 4,000 people annually with approximately 500 classes as well as workshops, open studios, and summer camps. While not providing academic credit, BBAC courses are at a level that is comparable to the art departments at many institutions of higher education.

Detroit Skating Club Detroit Skating Club
Many world-class skaters have trained at the Detroit Skating Club (“DSC”) facility in Bloomfield Hills. The DSC offers an exceptional off-ice program in which many of the EDE dancers teach on an ongoing basis. EDE also provides DSC skaters with additional opportunities for dance training, including workshops in jazz/hip hop, modern dance and choreography.
Oakland University

Oakland University
Founded in 1959, Oakland University (“OU”) includes the promotion of arts as part of its mission. The Meadow Brook Music Festival, the Meadow Brook Theatre and the Meadow Brook Art Gallery all call OU’s campus home and each exemplify the university’s investment in the arts. As a Professor of Dance, Laurie Eisenhower is on faculty at Oakland University’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance (“MTD”) and has partnered with the university since the inception of EDE in 1991. EDE rehearses at OU throughout the season and also performs annually on the MTD Professional Artist Series at Varner Recital Hall. Dance students at OU especially benefit from the relationship. EDE’s company modern class doubles as a university course for advanced dance students and OU’s Repertory Dance Company, a pre-professional student dance company, is often given the opportunity to perform as guest dancers with EDE. In addition, selected students are invited to apprentice with EDE.

Macomb Center Macomb Center for the Performing Arts
For nearly 10 years, the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble has partnered with the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in a variety of capacities. The company has offered its season finale subscription series concert at the venue, provided EDE dancers for Macomb Center outreach and education programs, and co-produced performances including Stravinsky's Firebird with the Warren Symphony Orchestra, Carmina Burana with the Rackham Symphony Choir, and Motown in Motion with The Contours (set to premiere on March 25, 2006).
Arts, Beats, Eats

Arts, Beats and Eats Festival
EDE appeared at the Arts, Beats and Eats Festival in downtown Pontiac for the first time in 2004. EDE again presented multiple performances at the 2005 Festival. In April through June 2005, EDE dancers worked with students from the Pontiac Public Schools in a residency funded by a grant awarded to the Festival. The dancers guided the students through the choreographic process; the students chose diversity as their theme, with their final work displayed at the 2005 Festival.

Spehere Entertainment

EDE dancers join The Toy Castle Live for several performances a season in cities throughout the United States.
